Deepika Padukone turns producer for her next film with Meghna Gulzar?

It seems that Deepika Padukone has taken a sabbatical of sorts from films after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. There has been a lot of speculation for a while about her next project. Rumours also suggested that Deepika Padukone will be playing a female superhero, however nothing concrete has come up in that regard ever since. According to a report in a leading daily, Deepika has given a nod to Raazi director Meghna Gulzar’s next project. The report claims that the two have had a few meetings after which Deepika agreed to come on board.

The film is reportedly based on acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal. Lakshmi was attacked by a man whose proposal she had rejected. After which she goes on to start an NGO and helps other’s who have been victims of this heinous act like her. The film is expected to go on floors in February. Another report now claims that Deepika will be co-producing the film as well. Deepika has reportedly set up her own production house and is keen to produce content driven films. Her colleagues Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra have already turned producers and it seems that Deepika will now be taking the same route.
