A picture of the clapboard from the sets of the Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika started doing rounds on the internet today. In the same, Kangana was shown as the director of the film instead of Krish Jagarlamudi. Soon after the picture was released, Kangana’s team released a clarification on their official social media handle.

Kangana Ranaut

It said, “Krish Jagarlamudi is director of Manikarnika and will remain so. He's currently fulfilling his unavoidable commitments with another project and so Kangana Ranaut has stepped in to shoot patchwork on his behalf. The team of Manikarnika wants the movie to release on 25th January 2019 and to make sure that happens Kangana had to step in to do the patchwork, which she is doing very dedicatedly…The clapboard is used only to avoid any confusion on the sets for the crew members and there should not be much made out of the same.”

Earlier a Brahmin from Rajasthan threatened to disrupt the shooting of the film since he felt it was an ‘indecent portrayal’ of Rani Laxmibai’s character in the film. Reacting to that, producer Kamal Jain had said, “As responsible filmmakers, we have taken utmost care while portraying Rani Laxmibai’s character and have consulted historians and scholars. Rani Laxmibai was a freedom fighter and one of the most respected leaders our country has seen. She is a symbol of valour and the film’s story depicts the same.”

Meanwhile, one of the producers of the film, Nishant Pitti also addressed the rumours of Kangana being the director of the historical drama. He told a daily today, “Yes, Kangana has taken over as the director because Krish is busy shooting the NTR biopic in Hyderabad.”

It would be interesting to see if the film’s poster also has Kangana’s name on it along with that of director Krish. The film is slated to release on  January 25, 2019. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi also stars Jisshu, Atul Kulkarni, Sonu Sood, Suresh Oberoi, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Ankita Lokhande in interesting roles.
