Boney Kapoor to immerse Srideviâs ashes in Rameswaram

The fact that she is no more is still to sink in our hearts. Sridevi had gone to the U.A.E to attend the wedding of her nephew, Mohit Marwah. She was also accompanied there by her husband, Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor. However, after the wedding she didn’t return with her family back to India as she was about to attend an auction for her paintings which was to be held in Dubai. On the night of 24th February, she was found lying motionless in the bath tub of her hotel room.

The staff of the hotel did find a pulse in the body at the time but she was declared dead by when they were able to get her to a hospital. After 48 hours of thorough investigation of the incident by the Dubai Police, Sridevi’s family were allowed to bring her mortal remains back to India. The body was brought back to the country on a private jet on the night of 27thFebruary. The condolence meeting for the late legendary actress took place on 28th February and almost the entire industry came to bid adieu to Sridevi. After the condolence meet the mortal remains of Sridevi were carried in a truck to the crematorium during which the roads looked like a sea of people as everyone had come out to get a last glimpse of the legendary actress for one last time. The Padma Shri winning actress was cremated with state honours. The funeral took place later in the day in Shree Seva Samaj crematorium in Vile Parle.

According to a report in leading portal, an urn carrying the ashes of Sridevi was brought in Chennai yesterday (March 2) by her husband Boney Kapoor for immersion in the sea of Rameswaram. The ashes brought by Kapoor in a special aircraft will be taken to holy island town of Rameswaram today and immersed in the sea there, airport sources said.

Even though with Sridevi gone, her legacy will always remain alive in the hearts of the people.
