Ranveer Singh to portray bisexuality in Sanjay Leela Bhansaliâs Padmavati

via filmfares
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is undoubtedly the most awaited film of the year. The magnum opus features the stellar star cast of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. Ever since the film was announced, the film has been surprising us. Initially we got to know that it is Shahid and not Ranveer who will romance Deepika in the film, and then we recently learned that Aditi Rao Hydari plays the love interest and one of the wives of Ranveer in the film.

And today we get to know that Ranveer's character will be bisexual in the film. If these reports are to be believed, Bhansali will not only showcase Alauddin Khilji’s (played by Ranveer) fascination and attraction towards Rani Padmavati (played by Deepika) but also towards his slave-general, Malik Kafur. The reports further suggest that it is none other than the Neerja fame actor Jim Sarbh who will play the role of Malik Kafur.

Ranveer had earlier revealed on a chat show that he wouldn…

Amit V Masurkar
Quick take: Gravitas of great storytellingRating: 4.5 stars

Some films are as important to the world as an apple falling on the head of Sir Isaac Newton. Whether it’s their gravity or gravitas, these films are a sheer joy to behold. Amit V Masurkar’s Newton, is a film about the most ordinary man living out the most extraordinary experience in the most commonplace of Indian locales. The sheer brilliance here comes from the fact that Masurkar and his co-writer Mayank Tewari pack-in so much detail. It begs you to wonder if the drafts of Newton must’ve as bulky as the Indian constitution. Because that’s the level of insight and relevance of this film. It takes something as basic as the right to vote in the world’s largest democracy and turns it into a story of subtle but sublime drama. This is definitely one the best films…
